Oh Carden

I love this kid.  Really truly.  He makes me laugh everyday.  He has so much personality and still says the funniest things.  I had to write more down before I forgot them...

"Daddy don't go poo poo in your pants, ok?"

"Mom can we ride on the alligator?" (elevator)

"Mom, don't cut yourself with the peanut butter, ok?" (butter knife)

"I go to scout camp when I'm FIVE and wear boots!"

"I heard big under in the sky and it scared me in my bed!" (during a "thunder" storm)

"Mom where's the muffin man?" (looking for the muffin pan)

Carden: (pointing to a police truck) "Look! I see a cop ca... I see a... I see a.... Mom what IS THAT!?!?"

Last week he chose to to help with the dishes over watching Barney and washing clothes over Dinosaur Train.  Seriously?  This can't be normal two year old behavior!

Josh: Carden give me my phone please.
Carden:  I need to do something... (acting sooo sneaky!)
Josh: What?
Carden: I need to do something.
Josh: Carden...
Carden: I need to do my email!

Pointing to sleeping David: "He's a tired little pup."

Pointing to crying David:  "I broke his little heart.  Right here" (pointing to his tummy)

Sobbing after waking up from an apparent nightmare:  "Davey go 'neeiigghh!' and it scared me!"

Utah!

I miss Utah.  I miss green grass everywhere, I miss how friendly people are and how everyone knows their neighbors.  Here in Arizona everyone has their little tiny patch of grass (if that) that's surrounded by cement curbing and then the rest of the yard is rock.  And everyone has their cinder block fences separating them from their neighbors so you never get to meet anyone.

Anyway.  We took a trip to Utah for my now annual Utah State roomies reunion.  Josh couldn't come because of school so I took the kids and made a looong vacation out of it.  We saw probably too many people and both kids were having breakdowns the last few days of the trip.

After a long car drive with my mom (the kids were angels though!) our first stop was the ride the Heber Creeper with my sister.  Carden was of course in heaven.  He had been talking about riding a "real train" for months before.

Giving his ticket to the conductor

 So happy to be there

There were a couple other little two year old boys who loved trains as much as Carden.  They were so cute standing there together.

After the train ride we went to Manila and stayed there for a few days.  Carden loved the cows and horses and the baby bunny that lived in my parents' wood pile.  He did not love the wind however.  He almost lost it when we were at the park with my high school friends.  I understand son.  I hate it too.

My parents work at the school so we would go play ball in the elementary gym at night.  Carden asked to go every night we were there.

Davey really started walking up in Utah.  He's been on the move ever since!

After my parents we went to visit my aunt and grandma at my cousin's graduation, then headed to Logan to see the family I worked for all through college.  It was so much fun to be in Logan again and see how big the kids are now! We went to the American Heritage Center first and then that night had a camp fire at second dam.

I love this picture of David.  The kid is seriously in love with all animals.

Carden's typical cheese face.  I think it's getting worse!

After Logan we stayed with my friend Angie and played with their kids.  I didn't get many pictures bu we went to the new City Creek mall and everyone loved the fountains.

This was at the children's part of the church history museum.  It was great!

The whole reason for the trip was to see my roomies and their kids and this is the only picture I got:

So sad! It wasn't just me who forgot, no one took any pictures! I think it was something to do with all of the crazy kids running around.  So fun to see everyone though.  Can't wait until next year!

Cardenisms

"I going pee pee going standing up like Daddy does."  Every. Single. Time.

"COME SEE MY POO POOS!!"

"What do doin, Dosh?" (Josh)

"Banoon" (Balloon)

"Where my red poo poo fire truck?" (A reward for potty training)

"I want purple pancakes".  Or I want purple pants.  Or purple whatever.

"Mom, talk to the book" (instead of read a book)

"Carden what did you dream about last night?"  "I dream about sponge bob swimming."  The only thing he ever dreams about.

"I get gum when I five."

"All cars sick.  They going to the car doctor."

Seriously.  Two years olds are awesome.

I Am One!

(I'm pretty sure David is my identical twin in this picture)

It's about time I posted for Davey's birthday.  He turned one back in March but we decided to hold off on his party until his due date, so he could eat some cake :)   He had his one year check up in March and at the time was crawling all over the place, starting to cruise furniture and was starting to say Mama and Dada.  He weighed 19 lbs, 14oz and was 29.5 in.

David started walking just after his due date.  We are so happy that he has basically caught up to where he should be now.  He also says uh oh (every time he throws his sippy cup), go and wow. And he loves to  climb now.  Carden never did this, so I'm not quite sure how to handle it when he's all of a sudden standing on the train table or on the seat of the tricycle.  He is definitely a cuddle-er and still wants to be held all day. And the kid can eat more than me.  It's incredible to me just how much a baby can eat.  He's finally starting to get a little chunky now so we love that he eats so much.

I made him a turtle cake and a smash cake that he had no idea what to do with.  He just stared at it until I started force feeding him.

He did however, think that his birthday present tasted good:
Going in for a bite.  Yum, yum!

Apparently the frosting Carden licked off of 3 cupcakes just wasn't enough, because I caught him doing this:

Happy Birthday Davey!

Aaannd just as i hit the publish button, David is sitting in my lap and threw up all over me.  ALL OVER EVERYWHERE. Just to remind me that life with kids should never be easy. Yuck.

Happy Dance!

Carden is an angel.  Seriously, he is a great kid.  He throws him some tantrums of course, but overall he's a pretty easy going kid.  I can't believe how easy it has been to transition him.  He stopped nursing with no problem, he "lost" his binky just after his second birthday and never cried over it or stopped sleeping, and now,   now, he just potty trained like it's no big deal.

I stuck him in underwear for a day and a half, he had a few pee accidents (but managed to avoid the carpet thank goodness!). He was zero for seven on the pooping though so I gave up and put him back in diapers, because poopy underwear is just about the grossest things I've ever dealt with.  But the next morning he started asking to go pee! on his own! in the potty! so I went out and bought him some hot wheels cars and that was the motivation to get him to go poo poo in the potty. He stays dry all night and through naps too.  I was dreading this for so long because of all of the horror stories I've been told by friends (one mom told me about her little girl who glared at her mom, took off her underwear and peed all over the carpet-ON PURPOSE.  Then, when the mom went to get some towels to clean it up, the girl jumped up on the MOM's bed and took a crap all over it-ON PURPOSE again. And the poor mom clogged her toilet with paper towels and overflowed the poopy water all over the bathroom. After that story I decided that there was absolutely nothing wrong with sending Carden to kindergarten in diapers.)

Good boy Carden.  Good boy.

Happy Easter!

Lena and Lenny, our next door neighbors and Carden's best friends, spent lots of time with us over Easter weekend. I don't know what Carden would do without them...

We decorated eggs on Friday. I let Carden put the little dye tablets in the bowls and didn't even think how much they looked like candy until he tried to eat one. Oops.

On Saturday we went to this big Easter event in Chandler. There was the egg hunt of course, and they had about five different bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, little sports activities and a bunch of other stuff.

Carden loved collecting the eggs, but loved the treats inside even more.

Josh, Lena, and Lenny all got inside these balls and had five minutes to slam into each other. Josh hit poor Lena so hard she fell right out. (she's only 11!). Afterwards, Josh and Lenny were literally soaked in sweat and it took Josh the rest of the day to recover. Not even kidding. He said it was the best workout.

Of course the train ride. Always a train ride. I think he went four times.

What we've been up to...

Train ride at the mall:

He had more fun than it looks, I promise

Train park with Grandma K:

Carden loved this little Flintstones car. He kept on saying he was driving a steam roller.

Lots of park time:

Hello big blues!

This shovel is Davey's new favorite toy. The tantrums when you take it from him!

Growing more hair so we can finally have some crazy bedhead:

Lots of two year old tantrums:

Learning how to walk!:

He is so close! Just a few more weeks...

The usual quad rides:

Mowing the lawn with Daddy and Grandpa Guy:

It's been a fun month. I am so not ready for summer to come.

It's a birthday!

What the.. where did a year go? How is this even possible? It seems just we just barely brought Davey home from the hospital and now he's already a year. So crazy.

We decided that David is still too little for cake, so we'll be having a "due date" party for him in May to celebrate his birthday then. So tonight, wwe just sang happy birthday.

Enjoying his birthday avocado...yum, yum!

Davey, we love you and can't imagine life without you. Happy Birthday! Here are some pictures from the past year...

How you doin?
