Mine vs. Ours

After getting married, things that were once considered mine are now "ours." This is fine with most things, such as money, food, etc. But there are some things that you do not share after marriage. Toothbrushes and and underwear are two obvious examples. Since being married, I have also discovered other items that I am unwilling to share:

1. My socks. I would have assumed this one would be just as obvious as underwear, since Josh's feet are about two times the size of mine. But apparently it's not that obvious, since I soon found all of my socks so stretched out there was no elastic left at all! Besides that, feet are gross and I don't want to share my socks!

2. My pillow. I don't like new pillows. They're too fluffy and I feel like I'm suffocating in them. My pillow is probably older than I am and it is finally at the perfect flatness. And it's MINE. Josh tries to trick me and switch it with another one, but I know. I always know.

I remember I had a roommate who was this way with her hairbrush. Now I completely understand.

I think you should treat your husband with more love. Refer to D&C 118:33

I'd like to know who anonymous is?

Have Josh safety pin his socks together, no chance of getting them mixed with yours!

If you sleep on his side of the bed, then he gets to share your pillow!

Anonymous is Josh of course. Nice try, but the pillow is mine!

Very subtle reference to your roommate. I am still that way with the hairbrush. And earrings, too. Yeeecch.

ps - old pillows have lots of nasty stuff going on. Maybe you should let Josh have the old dirty buggy pillow. Maybe, he's just displaying his love for you by giving you the new pillow! :)

I love reading your blog, it makes me laugh everytime. And I thought it was funny what "mom" said, seems how Josh did safety pin his socks together in college, I have proof, because we once undid them all and safety pinned them all together to make on very long rope of socks..it was quite funny. Plus Lars, if he wears your socks once, you are done for, they will never be rid of the stink ever again, so I agree with you and I am the same with my pillow too.

Must be a King thing to steal. After 8+ years of marriage Mike is trying to steal my side of the bed. I claimed this side many moons ago, and it belongs to ME! Mike also tries to steal my pillow so I feel your pain. I've had the same pillow forever, while Mike bought the fancy schmancy pillow at Sharper Image. He still trys to steal my old Wal-Mart pillow. DIRTY...

Sharon and Hannah: I had no idea he used to safety pin his socks together! What else is he hiding...?

Gnomie: BTW, I wash that pillow in about a gallon of bleach at least twice a year. Hopefully that kills all the nasty bugs. And I didn't know you felt that way about your earrings. Now I'm sorry I borrowed them.

Sherri: Josh tries to claim that I steal his side too, but we all know it's the other way around. I'm glad you understand my pain.

Heathbar: Josh is not nearly as stinky as before, but he still tries to rub his dirty socks in my face. Ooh, it makes me so mad!

Lars, there are much grosser body parts than feet. So if you're not "cuddly sleepers", (ross and rachel), and when he gets too close at night, do the "Hug and Roll"... it works like a charm on Heath! And I love that scripture Josh. Has anyone else read it?
